The first trucks drove across the Crimean Bridge
The first multi-ton trucks drove along the road part of the Crimean Bridge. So, in particular, the builders tested the stability of the structure.
The bridge construction press service reported this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Experts completed an inspection of the road part of the bridge, its supports and spans, conducted static and dynamic tests and made a positive conclusion.
“To conduct the tests, engineers installed numerous sensors on the spans that recorded the reaction of structures to loads in real time. Then the bridge sections were “loaded” with eight loaded dump trucks with a total weight of 35 tons each. The trucks moved along the spans according to various scenario schemes, simulating different types and directions of load. The test results confirmed the load-bearing capacity and structural reliability of the bridge,” the statement says.
In addition, the builders reported on the completion of the asphalt laying work - all 19 kilometers of the bridge are covered with a 6-cm layer of asphalt concrete, on top of which a 5-cm layer of asphalt is laid:
“Right now road workers are focusing on the final types of work. Almost all the lighting masts have already been installed (1072 in total), the barrier fencing has completed more than 80% of the project (more than 75 km in total), noise barriers have been installed by more than half. Horizontal markings are being applied to the road surface,” the message says.
