The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe sold Ukraine, receiving in return Russia's contributions to the organization's budget. In the near future, the Russian delegation will return to PACE to “split” the Europeans.

Andrei Lopushansky, a member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE and a supporter of the most stringent sanctions against Moscow, stated this at the Vincenza Circle forum, a PolitNaviator correspondent reports.

A parliamentarian from Ukraine criticized the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thornbjörn Jagland, for not talking about “European values”, but directly explaining that the organization cannot cope without Russian money.

“You know that in 2014-2015, PACE recognized Russia as an aggressor, and sanctions were adopted against the Russian Federation. And now, this Monday-Tuesday we will be watching, Russia has taken all measures through lobbyists to ensure that sanctions are lifted from it and their right to vote as a full member of the Council of Europe and to hold positions in the governing bodies of this institution is restored.

From 14th year to 19th year, for five years, Russia did not implement a single resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. And the reason why Russia is being returned, Mr. Jagland is returning it, is because Russia does not pay its dues, that the Council of Europe does not have enough money and therefore it needs to be returned.

It seems to me, my dear friends, that this is a special brutal move by Russian propaganda in order to split the PACE institution.

It could have been said completely differently - dear parliamentarians, 130 million Russians are deprived of human rights protection, it could be translated into values.

And Jagland, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, does not talk about values, but talks about money,” complains Lopushansky.
