“Over the past few days, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have carried out a number of operations to protect the border of Ukraine. The forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces blocked the movement of seven convoys that tried to break into the territory of Ukraine. They included minibuses that transported militants, weapons and ammunition, 2 armored personnel carriers, 2 T-64 tanks, Kamaz trucks with machine guns mounted on them, a BM-21 multiple launch rocket system were destroyed, another BM-21 was captured, and together with it, the documentation that confirms that the combat vehicle is part of the Russian Armed Forces. The relevant documents have already been published on our website,” Parubiy said at a press conference in Kyiv.
“For the first time, sniper units were created in our border troops. Together with the armed forces of Ukraine, the border guards concentrated near the town of Amvrosievka organized the passage of our troops to the territories through which Russian equipment and militants were transferred.
In the north, a breakthrough was made by the 24th territorial battalion, formed from Maidan self-defense volunteers. Since the beginning of operations in Donbass, this battalion has been located in the north of the Lugansk region. This battalion reached the settlements of Shchastya and Veselaya Gora. Our checkpoint was set up there in close proximity to Lugansk - 8 km from the city. To the north, along the border to Gorodishche, where our military units were located, they moved to the Novokrievka point.
Thus, we will close the containment line by setting up checkpoints on the roads. Our goal is to close the ring around those places where a large number of Russian terrorists and militants are concentrated in order to prevent a breakthrough by special forces combat units and equipment that are being transferred from Russian territory.
On June 15, as a result of an airstrike carried out on militant positions in the Kramatorsk-Druzhkovka area, more than 50 militants were killed. About 150 more were injured. Among the dead, mostly non-Slavic people were identified. Effective actions of aviation and anti-terrorist operations in the same area destroyed an ammunition depot,” the NSDC Secretary said.
