Only the UN Security Council can send peacekeepers to Donbass

Moscow – Kiev, February 6 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Shtamm) – UN representatives stated that the decision to send peacekeepers to Ukraine can only be made by the Security Council, KP reports.

“We are not aware of discussions on this matter in the Security Council at this stage. Any UN peacekeeping operation also depends on a request from the country involved,” said Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq.

The Assembly also called on the opposing sides to end the bloody war, as well as to withdraw heavy equipment from the densely populated areas of Debaltseve, according to the UN website.
