Ukrainian nationalists sold the Vasilek automatic mortar to the defenders of Donbass. Official representative of the DPR UNM Daniil Bezsonov spoke about this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We were contacted by representatives of one of the nationalist formations occupying positions on the front line in the Joint Forces Operation zone with an offer to purchase a 2B9 “Vasilek” automatic mortar, 82-mm caliber. After negotiations, we purchased these weapons,” said Daniil Bezsonov.
According to him, official Kyiv is now disarming the national battalions. Therefore, the radicals preferred to make money by selling the mortar “to the left.”
“We know that weapons are being sold by Right Sector militants, who understand that in the near future their unit will be disarmed and all weapons will be confiscated. In this regard, small arms are dismantled and transported by militants to the rear of the country, and large weapons are either hidden in caches or sold outside. This particular mortar, according to the seller, was taken by nationalists back in 2014 from one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was in the national battalion all this time,” the representative of the defense department said in conclusion.
