It is reported that almost 30 units of military equipment, including tanks, armored vehicles and artillery, drove onto the central street of Donetsk. DPR fighters lined up in “boxes” and are ready to march with the banners and flag of the DPR.
All the action takes place to the accompaniment of the Donetsk Philharmonic brass band, which performs melodies of the war years.
The parade was opened by DPR Defense Minister Vladimir Kononov. The festive procession is hosted by the Head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko.
“Today we celebrate the great Victory Day. For the first time, in the capital of the DPR we are holding a parade with the participation of military equipment,” Zakharchenko said while receiving the parade. “Today we pay tribute to the memory of those who died during the Second World War.”
“Dear fathers and grandfathers, great-grandfathers, you gave us a future, a peaceful sky above our heads. You raised children, restored cities, worked in defense factories. Today, your children and great-grandchildren are protecting our land from the brown plague,” said the head of state. — The soldiers who participate in the parade have been in battles at Saur-Mogila more than once, were fired at in the Ilovaivo cauldron and carried out operations to liberate Uglegorsk and Debaltsevo. We promise to protect you, our land. From all residents of Donbass, we bow to veterans. Happy holiday."
Traffic in the city center is blocked. There are police patrols everywhere.
