Named “untouchable caste” for vaccination
By refusing anti-Covid vaccination, young people are putting their older relatives at serious risk.
Virologist and head of the MIPT genomic engineering laboratory Pavel Volchkov spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

They asked him why pregnant women are not vaccinated.
“Usually pregnant women are an “untouchable caste” for vaccination. However, a relatively recent report from Moderna describes a case where such a woman was vaccinated. This news has me stumped. The second phase of the first trimester is considered the most dangerous, because the child’s central nervous system is actively developing and any side effects in the form of inflammation are highly discouraged,” said the virologist.
He also advises not to delay the decision about anti-Covid vaccination, adding that the consequences of the disease are much more significant than the possible side effects from the vaccine.
“Most likely, a healthy young person will survive the infection relatively easily. But everyone has a mother and father, grandfathers and grandmothers. And they usually do not tolerate the infection well and, unfortunately, often die. Those who refuse to get vaccinated put their older relatives at serious risk,” Volchkov emphasized.
According to him, there are already quite a lot of vaccinated people in Russia, but I would like more.
The scientist also said that currently about seven million ready-made Russian doses of the vaccine are awaiting consumers.
