In Ukraine, NATO propaganda will be greatly increased in order to improve its negative image
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decree “On approval of the action plan for the implementation of the Concept for improving public information on issues of Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine for 2018,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting, the Government Portal reports.
The adoption of the document, the document notes, is intended to ensure “effective informing of the public on issues of Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.” The goal is to increase the level of support among Ukrainians for government policies in the field of Euro-Atlantic integration and the level of trust in NATO as an institution that plays a key role in strengthening international security.
“This decision is especially important in the context of countering Russian propaganda. And, in addition to refuting Soviet and new Russian myths about NATO, we have a lot of work to do to explain the essence of the North Atlantic Alliance. NATO is not just an army. “NATO is human rights, the rule of law, education, ecology,” noted Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
She believes that Ukrainians' support for joining NATO is more of an emotional nature. Therefore, propaganda that would help turn this support into a conscious and informed understanding of the Alliance's activities is necessary.
As part of the propaganda campaigns, thematic seminars and trainings for media representatives, photo exhibitions will be held, and thematic videos will be distributed on social networks, which, on the one hand, will demonstrate the value of partnership with Ukraine for NATO, and on the other, explain to Ukrainians the need for Euro-Atlantic integration.
In addition, it is planned to hold targeted public events in the regions with the participation of representatives of government authorities, the security and defense sector, and NATO missions in Ukraine; creative competitions, thematic interactive games for students; creation of cycles of television and radio programs; production, placement in public places and educational institutions of information and explanatory materials (posters, leaflets, booklets, advertising and souvenir products), etc.
In addition, according to the plan, central and local government authorities will publish information on Ukraine’s cooperation with NATO on official websites and social networks and highlight activities carried out by government authorities in the field of Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.

Central executive authorities and government bodies involved in the implementation of annual national programs under the auspices of the Ukraine-NATO Commission will have to work throughout the year to correct the existing negative image of NATO as an aggressive bloc that bombed Libya and Iraq, inform through websites and social networks , media about non-military NATO initiatives, in particular in the field of ecology, energy, nuclear and radiation, cyber and information security, implementation of projects within the framework of the NATO trust fund, and reform of the security and defense sector of Ukraine in accordance with NATO standards and recommendations.
The activities will be financed within the framework of the budget program “Implementation of activities on issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration in the information sphere.” It is also planned to attract financial opportunities from domestic and international business organizations, foundations, and non-governmental organizations.
