At the end of July, the duty station of the Kremenchug city police department received a message from doctors at a local hospital that a 19-year-old Kremenchug woman had died while preparing for an operation. The patient's preliminary diagnosis is appendicitis.
“The necessary evidence has been collected indicating that during preparation for the operation, the girl was given argon instead of oxygen into her lungs. The doctors failed to take priority measures to restore breathing, the girl died,” said Oleg Bekh, head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Poltava region.
Criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (improper performance of professional duties by a medical or pharmaceutical worker).
