UN peacekeepers will stand between the militias and the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and between Donbass and the Russian Federation - Turchynov
Moscow - Kyiv, February 19 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - UN peacekeepers, whose deployment to Ukraine was approved by the National Security and Defense Council, should stand both along the line of contact and along the border of the DPR and LPR with Russia, said NSDC Secretary Alexander Turchynov.

At a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), the invitation of a UN peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine was approved, RBK reports . At the same meeting, the NSDC approved Poroshenko's proposed amendments to the law "On Martial Law." According to Turchynov, the amendments will address "constant violations of peace agreements" by Donbas militias.
According to the NSDC Secretary, peacekeepers “must stand both along the line of contact and along the uncontrolled section of the Russian-Ukrainian border.”
The day before, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated that the issue of inviting a UN peacekeeping mission had already been “worked out by the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was involved.”
Let us remind you that, according to Poroshenko, “the best format for us is the police mission of the European Union.” It will act in accordance with the mandate of the UN Security Council, and Poroshenko considers this “the most effective and optimal guarantor of security in the current situation.”
Let us also recall that Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin today called the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to send UN peacekeepers there as contrary to the Minsk agreements.
