Local elections in Ukraine promise to be the most “redneck”
Based on preliminary signs of the start of the election campaign in Ukraine, one can definitely say only that the turnout for local elections will be low, and the result promises to be “distorted.”
This was stated by Anna Bykova, director of the political agency "AGGroup", during a press conference in Kiev, reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
“In terms of the quality of elections, every election we degrade; the quality of the voter’s request changes. The voter in Kyiv is already more obstinate and capricious than in the regions, but still he does not set clear requirements for what he wants to see. People want situational satisfaction of their hopes - and nothing more. People do not ask for constructiveness, academic compliance with a political party.
Now there is a trend for simple answers to simple questions, for a beautiful picture, and in general, alas, there is no anti-trend. That is, such a word as “redneck”. We come to the regions, we see two boards hung identically, one above the other.
That is, we do not understand what effect the candidate achieves by hanging his two faces on one birch tree. This is probably a technical plan that his PR department needed to fulfill based on the number of boards in a city or village. But it looks redneck, and the trend toward redneckness is progressing in these elections,” the expert said.
“People, in principle, understand all this, feel it, and as one of the trends, what this leads to is low turnout is guaranteed. As a political strategist, I do not see any prerequisites for updating the election campaign and even the average turnout.
It is always lower among the locals, and in the conditions of this turbulence, incomprehensibility, creative redneckness, poor-quality theses, and the lack of an external communications strategy in the parties as such, one can only make a miscalculation that the turnout will be low and the result will be distorted. Naturally, with a lot of falsifications and manipulations,” concluded Anna Bykova.
