Lyashko “betrayed” Poroshenko: a year ago the Constitution was changed in the first reading, only to deceive Putin

Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in the first reading were adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on August 31 last year in order to “deceive Putin” and create the appearance of implementing the Minsk agreements.

The leader of the Radical Party, Oleg Lyashko, spoke about this in an interview with Glavkom.

According to him, that’s what Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told him at the time.

“On August 31 last year, changes were made to the Constitution on a special status for Donbass. From today's perspective, were these changes necessary? If on the first day of parliament the president already said that nothing would happen. So why make changes through the blood of the National Guard, through confrontation? We told you a year ago: don’t do this. And the president told me: we must deceive Putin, throw him bait,” Lyashko said.
