Hero of the Russian Spring Chaly considers Minsk-2 “the best way out”
Sevastopol, February 18 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) - The Minsk agreements are the best way out of the current situation, which will avoid senseless bloodshed, and at the same time gives a chance to avoid a big war in Europe.
The head of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, Alexei Chaly, stated this today live on the Rossiya 1 TV channel in the program “Special Correspondent” by Evgeniy Popov.

“Personally, I believe that in this situation, when the war has entered the positional stage, it is hardly possible to say that any side is capable of winning a decisive victory. Well, if we speak so globally, not only about the Debaltsevo cauldron, but also about the further development of events. I think that in this situation the Minsk agreements are the best way out. These kinds of wars tend to drag on, a huge number of people die, and then you still have to come to an agreement,” Chaly said.
At the same time, in his opinion, “the Ukrainian authorities need to be frightened by the international community,” because “this is only achievable with the help of European partners,” who, Chaly is sure, “are only partly on Poroshenko’s side.”
“I think that was the case for the time being, but they, apparently, were really scared. After all, it really smells like a big war in Europe, so I think that they are starting to change, and this is really an opportunity. I would like it to be used,” concluded Alexey Chaly.
As PolitNavigator reported, the day before DPR Foreign Minister Alexander Kofman called the new Minsk agreements impracticable.
“To say that I believe in the success of these negotiations would not be true. Even after the first Minsk agreements, I did not believe in their implementation. Recently it was very wisely said that the Minsk Protocol is so good that it has no chance of being implemented.
So, agreements were signed, after which a number of bills were presented in the Verkhovna Rada, ranging from criminal liability for evading mobilization, for non-recognition of Russia as an aggressor country, and an official statement that militia leaders are not subject to amnesty.
Think about the logic - they talk to us about peace, and then they say that we are not in danger of amnesty! Is this peaceful rhetoric? - Kofman said.
