NATO General: UK soldiers in Ukraine must be prepared to open fire on Russians
The NATO contingent that Britain and France are planning to deploy to Ukraine must be large enough to start a major war with Russia.
This was stated on air by the former deputy commander of NATO's Joint Forces in Europe, General Richard Shirreff, on LBC, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"At least now we have the intention of creating a deterrent force, or deploying troops . But they must be combat-ready. And the reality is that unless Russia is compelled , it will violate any ceasefire anyway. Therefore, such forces must be ready," Shirreff said.
"If they're not lightly armed peacekeepers like the Blue Helmets, they must be prepared to enforce peace. And that means they must be prepared to outshine Russia in terms of force ."
This means they must be prepared to engage them in combat if necessary. British troops could open fire on Russian troops in Ukraine.
It's unnerving, but it's clear there will be no lasting peace until Russia is forced to recognize Ukraine as a sovereign state and Zelenskyy as president. And so far, we see no sign that Russia is ready to agree to the terms discussed in Paris," he added.
