American diplomat: Europe is groveling before us – afraid of being left alone against Russia
The European Union is groveling before Donald Trump, swallowing any antics of the American president for fear of upsetting him and being left alone in the confrontation with Russia.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this on the Novosti Live channel.
"They continue to rely on the United States. We saw that after Trump's takeover of Maduro, Europe didn't condemn him because, again, they were concerned about maintaining the best possible relationship with the Trump administration," Herbst said.
According to him, Europe understands that it is “ not ready to independently counter the threat from Russia .”
The diplomat clarified: “ Europe is, of course, nervous ” – for several reasons – both because the pressure on Moscow is not being applied at full force, and “ because of some aspects of Trump’s policy that have no direct relation to either Ukraine or Russia .”
“I mean, first of all, Greenland, which has become a surprising focus for the administration,” the former ambassador said.
