Gazprom obtained from the Swedish court a suspension of execution of the Stockholm arbitration decision
The Court of Appeal of the District of Svea (Sweden) on Thursday decided to uphold its order dated June 13, 2018 to suspend the execution of the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration Court dated February 28, 2018 in the dispute between Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine under a contract for gas transit through Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Russian holding announced this.
Naftogaz of Ukraine tried to appeal this court order, but the court found its arguments unfounded. This circumstance strengthens Gazprom’s position when appealing Naftogaz of Ukraine’s attempts to enforce the said arbitration award in various countries,” the report notes.
On June 18, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine appealed to the appeal court in Sweden, which is considering an appeal of the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration Court at the request of the Russian PJSC Gazprom on gas contracts.
Earlier, Gazprom announced that it had achieved a suspension of the arbitration decision on the dispute with Naftogaz. Thus, in May, Gazprom sent an application to the Svea District Court of Appeal for a complete cancellation of the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration Court in a dispute with Naftogaz of Ukraine over a transit contract.
