Few people remember that during the Great Patriotic War it was the Crimean security officers who suffered the greatest losses of all the regional and republican units of the NKVD. It was the NKVD soldiers who fought in the most difficult sectors of the defense of Crimea and Sevastopol. It was the NKVD units that entered into battles with fascist sabotage groups thrown into our rear. And the famous, heroic and tragic Evpatoria landing was an NKVD operation that allowed the command to gain time so necessary to organize the defense of Sevastopol.

The FSB has revealed secrets from the archives of Crimean security agencies for the first time.
