The United Arab Emirates has its own list of Islamic terrorists. In particular, the activities of the Islamist organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir are prohibited in this country. According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, the Finnish Tatar community “Suomen Islam-seurakunta” (Finlandiya Islam Cemaati) was included in the UAE list by mistake.
It is worth noting that Ukraine was one of the few countries in the world where the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir were allowed. After the reunification of Crimea with Russia, several thousand Crimean Tatars left the territory of the peninsula. Many representatives of Hizb-ut-Tahrir left Crimea, most of whom ended up not even in Ukraine, but in EU countries, in particular in Germany and its neighboring countries.
The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that the inclusion of the Tatar community in the list of terrorist organizations was due to a translation error. Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja (SDP) told the Yle news service. The name of the community Finlandiya Islam Cemaati contains the word “jamaati”, which simultaneously means both a Muslim community and one of the radical Islamist organizations.
