Ghana has officially withdrawn its recognition of Kosovo, becoming the 16th country to do so, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Today it is the largest country, with a population of 30 million people, to do this. Ghana, one of the most influential countries in Africa, has traditionally been a friend of Yugoslavia,” Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said in an interview with Prva TV.

Negotiations between Serbia and Ghana lasted a year and a half.

“Ghana has decided to withdraw recognition of Kosovo because it considers the decision of the previous government of Ghana to recognize Kosovo as an independent state to be wrong,” Dacic said.

According to him, representatives of Kosovo tried to put pressure on representatives of Ghana.

“They followed them around during UN events in the corridors, and even announced on Facebook that they had met them. However, they were no longer able to influence the decision,” said the head of the Serbian Foreign Ministry.

There will be several more recognition withdrawals by the end of the year, he said.

The goal of official Belgrade is to ensure that the number of states that supported Pristina becomes less than 97 (initially there were 113). In this case, Kosovo's independence will become illegitimate.

The United States is extremely concerned about the success of the campaign to revoke Kosovo's recognition. They are trying to persuade the Serbian authorities to wind it down in exchange for the elimination of the 100% tariff on Serbian goods imposed by Kosovo.

Recently, major power India pledged to support the campaign to revoke confessions.
