Zaporozhye, June 16 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The prosecutor’s office of the Zaporozhye region charged the former chairman of the regional state administration, Alexander Peklushenko, with suspicion of organizing the dispersal of the Maidan near the Regional State Administration building on January 26, as a result of which more than 40 participants in the “peaceful protest” were injured.

“The investigative department of the prosecutor’s office of the Zaporozhye region informed Peklushenko of suspicion of organizing mass riots by prior conspiracy by a group of people involved in mass riots - (part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 294 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the prosecutor’s office of the Zaporozhye region reported. The pre-trial investigation into the January events in Zaporozhye continues.

As Navigator reported, on January 26, Maidan was dispersed in Zaporozhye. Activists named the main culprits as Governor Alexander Peklushenko and Chairman of the Regional Council Viktor Mezheiko, who was also charged. After the February events, activists kicked the governor out of the regional state administration by walking into a work meeting and dragging him from the table by the arms.
