“For Lukashenko there is no longer a way back to the West” - Rahr
The chances for Russia to integrate with Belarus into a confederation (union state) have increased.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr writes about this on his Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“In a couple of months, Lukashenko will have nowhere to go; he won’t be able to maneuver between the West and Russia. The West wants Belarus – but without Lukashenko. Putin can now gently force Lukashenko to make further concessions. Lukashenko will curtsy to Russia. There is no other way out. It recognizes Crimea, Abkhazia and Ossetia. There is nowhere to go. There is no way back to the West,” Rahr wrote.
In his opinion, the West will still strengthen NATO structures in the east, even realizing that this “pushes Lukashenko into the arms of Putin.”
“Belarus is not Ukraine. Belarus is a military ally of the nuclear power Russia. Belarus will not survive economically without Russia. But all the same, the situation may sooner or later unfold there like in Ukraine,” Rahr wrote.
