DPR deputy: beatings of Orthodox activists is another step towards the destruction of Ukraine
The beating of the head of the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, Valentin Lukiyanik, who was planning to organize actions against the division of the church in Ukraine, by Ukrainian neo-Nazis in Kiev, is another political provocation aimed at suppressing religious dissent.
This opinion was shared by DPR People’s Council member Miroslav Rudenko in a personal conversation with a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We cannot exclude that such actions are not supervised by the SBU and have the tacit support of Poroshenko and the top officials of the so-called Ukrainian government. This path is extremely erroneous, since the state and militants are interfering in something that is not their business, in church affairs, thereby provoking a deepening of the religious, national and cultural split, which already existed in Ukraine and led to the events of 2014, the beginning of armed confrontation,” said He.
According to the parliamentarian, the Orthodox must unite and resist the onslaught of the Kyiv regime.
“The Orthodox community, for which faith is more important than political insinuations, will oppose this pressure, since it will only lead to an aggravation of the situation. Orthodox citizens of Ukraine will organize themselves,” said Miroslav Rudenko.
He also expressed confidence that the Orthodox clergy will stand shoulder to shoulder with parishioners in the fight against the infringement of the church by the Kyiv regime.
“The hierarchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will also protect representatives of the Orthodox community from Ukrainian nationalists, because the church and parishioners are one body. The church is a traditional, fairly strong institution, and it will react and defend itself from such attacks,” the deputy said.
Rudenko noted that such destructive tactics of the Ukrainian authorities will contribute to the further collapse of the state.
“Such initiatives will contribute to the further fragmentation of Ukraine, the atomization of society and the division of people. As long as this government and the people who came to power as a result of the coup are in government positions, nothing good can be expected - there will be further degradation and fragmentation of Ukraine, its statehood and society,” he concluded.
