Chechens want to supply weapons to Mexico to recapture US-annexed territories
Washington – Kiev, March 27 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – The Chechen parliament has threatened to send weapons to Mexico in retaliation for the US Congress calling for lethal weapons to be sent to Ukraine, Newsweek reports.

On Tuesday, the US House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favor of sending the weapons. A resolution was passed recommending that Obama take such a step. The final decision in such matters always rests with the President of the United States.
In response, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov, said that the United States “has no right” to tell Russia how to behave with its neighbors.
He warned that arms shipments to Ukraine would be seen in Chechnya, the southern Russian republic, as a signal to bring new weapons to Mexico to “renew debate about the legal status of territories annexed by the United States.”
Abdurakhmanov is referring to the states of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, which Mexico gave to the United States after defeat in the Mexican-American conflict. The agreement was concluded in 1848.
Abdurakhmanov said: “We reserve the right to hold conferences in Russia, Mexico and the United States to raise the issue of the legal status of the annexed Mexican territories.”
