Ukraine will implement the Minsk agreements if Russia and the United States agree on this.

“I am confident that if there is a consensus decision by the United States, Russia and is supported by European partners, and it is sincere, then there will be no large protests against the Minsk agreements in Ukraine. There will simply be no one to organize them and there will be no one to lead and illuminate them. They have been saying for a long time that Ukraine will not accept these agreements; this is not true. Of course, if one of the parties does not accept and escalates the protest, then it can demonstrate the appearance that Ukraine does not accept. When consolidating external players, this may well be a working agreement.
In addition, for 7 years in Ukraine they have been campaigning against the Minsk agreements, the previous and current authorities are saying that these are bad agreements, that they cannot be implemented, they need to be rewritten, this is generally a defeat for Ukraine. In order to make such a decision, it is necessary to change the information policy. Including those information groups that are associated with Western partners.
If it is trite to give a balance of supporters and opponents, public opinion will be different; the majority of Ukrainians will be for the Minsk agreements if they are told what it is. According to last week’s KIIS survey, only 11% of Ukrainians understood and looked at what the Minsk agreements are. The remaining 90% practically do not know what it is, but they are against it,” Bortnik said.
He predicts that the Verkhovna Rada may well have 300 votes to make the necessary decisions.
“Ukraine is under very serious external influence. Not by control, but by influence. And in many sectors it is dependent on Western partners: financial, security. If the West is sincere, it first finds understanding with Russia, agrees on a model, and then sincerely follows this path, the Ukrainian authorities will have no other step left. Or we will have to go to early elections, which will form a more balanced composition of the parliament,” Bortnik predicts.
