White Ribbon People: Only Sarkozy’s party, which needs money, will benefit from the French visit to Crimea
The liberal Novaya Gazeta publishes material convincing readers that only Nicolas Sarkozy’s cash-strapped party will benefit from a visit to Crimea by a delegation of French deputies.

“Six of those who came this year came in the past, but what matters is not this, but the fact that not a single representative of the ruling Socialist Party came to Crimea - then, and now, and never before. So far, not a single representative of the executive branch of a Western country has arrived in Crimea,” the publication says.
The author of the material notes that the French Foreign Ministry still does not recognize the Russian status of Crimea, and the visit of a group of deputies “does not oblige the French authorities to anything.”
But the publication hints that the party of Nicolas Sarkozy, who needs money to cover his debts, could benefit from the parliamentarians’ trip to Crimea.
“Sources of Novaya Gazeta also call Mariani an informal “Minister of Russian Affairs” within Sarkozy’s party,” the publication says.
