Avakov reported a split in Tymoshenko’s party - some deputies fled to Poroshenko
Kyiv, August 27 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov confirmed rumors of a split in the Batkivshchyna party. A number of prominent figures left the political force who did not agree with Yulia Tymoshenko’s proposed course of opposition to President Petro Poroshenko on the eve of early elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

“Who left? Turchynov, Yatsenyuk, Avakov, Denisova, Petrenko, Grinevich, Golovko, Mateichenko, Pashinsky, Parubiy, Pyshny, Burbak, Khmil, Apostol, Yemets, Lunchenko,” Avakov wrote on Facebook.
According to Avakov, the departing deputies proposed concluding a “non-aggression pact” with Poroshenko in order to avoid civil strife in the situation of the conflict in Donbass. They also advocated that Arseniy Yatsenyuk, and not Tymoshenko, head the electoral list.
According to Navigator, Yatsenyuk and Turchynov have long been playing their own game, independent of Tymoshenko.
“Neither Yatsenyuk nor Turchinov thought that Yulia would be released so soon. It was known that Turchynov was bargaining for the post of speaker - if Poroshenko supported him, he had long been willing to go to the polls with him,” said a source in the party.
According to him, Batkivshchyna is not inclined to dramatize the departure of Yatsenyuk and Turchynov.
“Batkivshchyna will gather its nuclear electorate, Yatsenyuk does not add popularity to the party, he has a different electorate and principles of social policy,” said the interlocutor at the party headquarters.
