Dill is agitated and noisy in the wind: on March 8, the NATO Secretary General mentioned Ukraine in his routine speech. On March 9, Vice-Parubiy of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko began buzzing with an ode to joy “the ruler called Ukraine his beloved wife” on Facebook dedicated to this event.

At the same time, for some reason, she turned to the girls: “And while some are shouting “welcome” and “everything is lost,” the president, his team and NATO hawks are working. Girls, congratulations on the fantastic news: NATO has recognized Ukraine as a graduate country. We continue to work - together with the president, parliament, government, non-governmental organizations, experts, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Defense, who have done fantastic work over these 4 years to bring us closer to the Alliance. And I am proud that our women are doing so much for changes in the country in the army, in the government, in parliament, in the non-governmental sector. You are my dear hawks.”

Other Ukrainian politicians, including the famous intellectual Parubiy, also mentioned the “NATO aspirant country.”

The Ukrainian blogosphere also reacted to “joining NATO graduate school” in the most enthusiastic intonations.

Surprisingly, Poroshenko’s reaction on Facebook was much more restrained. In his note, the Confectioner-in-Chief expressed modest joy about “increasing Ukraine’s ambitions in the Alliance” and “recognition of the real state of affairs of the country in NATO.” Ukraine’s next “ambition” has also been named – to become a full-fledged member of the North Atlantic military bloc. It is characteristic that Petya never once mentioned the term “graduate country.”

What happened? Why did Stoltenberg’s routine remark cause such a strong reaction from some and restrained from others? And what kind of status is this – “graduate country”?

Apparently, the leaders of the “revolution of hydity”, as one not disfigured by intellect, have once again fallen into the magic of words. After all, the term “postgraduate student” refers to a person who has the status of a specialist with higher education, improving his qualifications in graduate school with the aim of defending a candidate’s dissertation.

So Parubiy and his “vice”, and with them hordes of armchair analysts, decided that NATO had accepted Ukraine into a certain circle of close associates, into a “graduate school” for a narrow circle of lovers of the military bloc of the united West, in which it would have to show diligence, sprinkle the disser - and then it’s in the bag - it will be possible to open the doors at the Brussels headquarters of the Alliance with your foot, declare personal enemies as common ones and demand the victory of democracy at your side.

In fact, Ukrainian politics is once again faced with a lack of understanding of the meaning of foreign words. In Latin, “aspire” means “to blow, to fan.” In English, this word means “to strive for something.” Apparently, this subtlety was explained to Poroshenko while studying at the Faculty of International Relations at Kyiv University.

That is, Stoltenberg merely recorded the fact that NATO noticed Ukraine’s desire to join the military bloc. Noticed and recorded in a press release. A symbolic gesture of “thoughts with you.” In addition, the NATO press service mentioned several more similar “graduate students” - Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia.

It’s interesting that Ukrainian politicians have completely forgotten about “graduate studies at NATO.” True, this was in another country, when a significant part of the “new Ukrainian elite” was selling small things, dreaming of a used foreign car, or doing gop-stopping. The phrase about “graduate studies” was already mentioned at the Alliance summit in Bucharest in 2008, and then the much more important phrase “Ukraine will be in NATO” was said.

True, France and Germany spoiled the whole raspberry by failing Ukraine's candidacy, but many serious observers had the impression that soon, despite the failure, NATO would issue Nenka an MAP - an action plan for membership in the Alliance. Carte blanche to join NATO.

However, as the years pass, Ukraine is far from being the enviable plump woman who had affairs and fooled everyone’s brains 10 years ago. And even having become a shabby Maidan hack, having decommunized and renounced everything and everyone, NATO is still in no hurry to hand over the MAP to her. No effort counts. As if all its elites did not jump out of their trousers out of zeal and desire to please, and Poroshenko, through the monstrous efforts of a dung beetle, did not penetrate without soap into the Euro-Atlantic anus.

Actually, Ukraine not only has no chances for NATO membership, but they are even declining – whether they consider it a “graduate student” in Brussels or not.

If earlier France and Germany opposed its participation (who only had more claims after the torpedoing of Poroshenko’s Minsk-2), now they have been joined by other members of the alliance, with whom Ukraine has entered into a conflict that has no solution due to the cultivation within countries of forced unitarianism and rollicking Banderaism. First of all, these are, of course, Poland and Hungary. It is possible that Nenka has more ill-wishers in NATO. With a high degree of confidence, we can name Italy, the Czech Republic, and possibly Slovakia. But there are more than enough of those that already exist: the membership of newcomers to NATO is approved by a unanimous vote of the participating countries.

In addition, the NATO leadership has a huge list of complaints against Ukraine, where the first lines talk about the disastrous state of affairs in the economy and extreme corruption, before which such difficult points as the non-compliance with NATO standards for the organization of the Armed Forces and military equipment pale in comparison.

Let’s not discount the fact that NATO does not accept countries that have territorial disputes with their neighbors and/or are engaged in hostilities. Once upon a time, for the sake of joining NATO, Yushchenko transferred “disputed” territories on the Black Sea shelf, rich in oil and gas, as a bribe to Romania, but the result was rather negative. Now, even if official Kyiv agrees to finally let go

Crimea and Donbass, American curators will not allow him to do this. For even under Obama, it was said from Washington that “Crimea will not be recognized even if Ukraine officially renounces it.”

All that NATO can provide to Ukraine and other “graduate students” today is a kind of partnership, when the Alliance can enter a country and freely move around on its territory without any obligations towards the host country. This is a convenient position - to eat someone else's geopolitical fat, giving in return only vague promises to somehow get married and do good.

It is very beneficial for the West to maintain illusions among the Kyiv establishment, while simultaneously keeping Ukraine an eternal beggar for attention at the front door. As they say, love is evil, and goats take advantage of it.

Ukraine is also looking with hope at PESCO, an “alternative NATO” declared by EU leaders for the Old World, which is trying to free itself from the obsessive tutelage of the United States, which has continued since the end of the Second World War. In Kyiv, for some reason, they believe that PESCO will take into account the Ukrainian stand “over the catch in the rye” against the “hordes from the East”, that it will take pity and let them in. And then the road to the EU will be open.

Naive. PESCO is not so much an “alternative to NATO” as a complementary structure designed to improve the bloc’s military logistics in Europe and reduce overhead costs. Otherwise, NATO would not have blessed the creation of a duplicate structure. Where Ukraine’s place in this scheme is is unclear. If only you can use it again without obligation.

However, this does not mean that NATO needs Ukraine only as a loyal and unrequited territory. NATO has long been favorably accepting Ukrainian cannon fodder to carry out “peacekeeping missions” in occupied territories, providing unlimited opportunities to pull chestnuts out of the fire for senior partners for a small bribe and a friendly pat on the back. In the same way, NATO is ready to help Ukraine in a hybrid war against Russia and even fight to the last Ukrainian.

But you can’t blame NATO here: the topic is “will you fight with the Muscovites?” has existed since the time of Mazepa, if not earlier, and, despite the invariably sad result for the “graduate students” who volunteered, there is still no translation for the evil stupid generation...
