Attempts to launch a strike movement at Belarusian enterprises failed: the conveyors did not stop.
Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yuri Nazarov announced this on the Belarus 1 TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We have seen that all these calls for strikes are coming from outside. They tried to undermine the teams of large industrial enterprises. We saw what was happening at MTZ, MAZ, MZKT, at BelarusKaliya, at BelAZ. But in principle, our conveyor has not stopped anywhere for a single day. We performed shift assignments at almost all enterprises. These attempts to disrupt certain confusion and inconvenience brought us, but the enterprises are operating as normal. Who enjoys working when you are greeted at the entrance with shouts and hubbub, clapping, whistling, and placards,” Nazarov said.
At the same time, he admitted that for several days the tense situation remained at Grodno Azot and the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant, but economic mechanisms worked.
“According to technological chains, their products are then processed at various Belneftekhim enterprises. Therefore, many teams turned to the workers of Grodno Azot: think before stopping production, because this is a chain. There was a certain wariness, but we got over it.
There were requests from external partners of BMZ. We work on an advance payment basis, so our partners asked reasonable questions: if we give you an advance payment, will you ship the products to us or are you going to go on strike. What does it mean to stop BMZ furnaces? It's very expensive to launch. This is an additional energy consumption that affects the cost and competitiveness of our products. When external forces broke through to the BMZ and stopped the technological operation of loading the furnaces, we estimated it at 1,5 million rubles (42 million Russian rubles - ed.),” Nazarov said.
