Russia will not limit itself exclusively to targeted missile strikes if it decides to go to war with Ukraine.
Nikolai Beleskov, Deputy Director of the Institute of World Politics, announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Despite all the achievements of the Russian Federation - high-precision weapons, attempts to act like the United States for the last 25 years - they will still fire at us with their ballistic missile systems, cruise missiles, but this is not at all the number of missiles to solve all the problems. All the same, then it will be necessary to introduce aviation, tank and motorized rifle formations. And in fact, with new technologies, there will be a significant repetition of what everyone knows from the Second World War, that is, tanks and artillery will play an important role,” Beleskov said.
According to him, the Russian Federation does not have enough high-precision weapons to solve all its problems. He recalled that even the United States had to fight tank battles in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.
In addition, the Kiev political scientist is convinced of the correctness of creating a Ukrainian tank reserve, as announced by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak.
“This reserve is very important, because what will be the main task for the Armed Forces of Ukraine? Exhaust the offensive potential of Russian units as much as possible, preventing them from capturing most of Left Bank Ukraine. This will only be possible if we have mobile reserves, we will cope, that is, we will survive. And if it is not possible to hold on to the fighting for a week or ten days and completely destroy the offensive potential, exhausting the Russians, then there will be slightly different, negative consequences,” Beleskov added.
