Vucic: “The entry ban on the Serbian Minister of Education is a sign of Pristina’s weakness”
Separatist authorities in Kosovo have banned entry into the province for Serbian Education Minister Mladen Sarcevic, who intended to take part in the start of the academic year at the University of Pristina in exile.
Pristina attributed its decision to “constant interference in the efforts of Kosovo institutions to integrate the Serbian community in Kosovo” by the head of the Serbian education department.

As a PolitNavigator correspondent reported, this is not the first time they have tried to prevent Sarcevic from entering the territory of the region separated from Serbia.
“Obviously, the authorities in Pristina do not like the fact that we are conducting classes in Kosovo and Metohija according to the Serbian model, and they are clearly looking for ways to obstruct this process,” said the Serbian Minister of Education.
Mladen Sarcevic was supposed to attend the solemn ceremony of the beginning of the new academic year at the University of Pristina in exile in the northern part of Kosovo Mitrovica (after 1999 the university was divided, Serbian professors and students, fearing for their lives, fled to the north of the region, while the Albanian university continues to operate in the capital University of Pristina) and distribute student cards to first-year students.
“Whenever you ban entry into a territory, you sign of your own weakness,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic commented on the situation. – Because by doing so you solve your party, political problems... We finance our schools in Kosovo and Metohija, we pay high salaries to our teachers and we will continue to do so in the future.”

However, signals have already begun to come from the office of the “Prime Minister” of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, that perhaps Pristina, under pressure from the international community, will change its anger to mercy.
“The international community has proposed allowing the Serbian Minister of Education to come to Kosovo. This is due to the improvement of relations between the two countries, but there is no final decision yet,” the press secretary of the head of the Kosovo government, Cevat Bechiri, commented on the situation.
