The explosion of Ukrainian Armed Forces warehouses in the Chernigov region is a continuation of a proven scheme to conceal large-scale thefts of state property by the military command.
Historian, publicist, and permanent expert of the Izborsk Club, Alexander Dmitrievsky, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“First of all, I would like to note the symbolism of what happened in Ichnya: yesterday Joseph Kobzon turned forty, today Alexander Zakharchenko turned forty. I remember well how Bandera’s followers mocked their death, and now we are seeing such, albeit improvised, fireworks in honor of our heroes on enemy territory.
And if you don’t look for the supernatural side of what’s happening and look at the world through the eyes of a materialist, then you’ll remember the famous film about Operation Y, when a stealing boss decided to stage a warehouse robbery. In general, an emergency of this kind is a unique opportunity to conceal thefts: the cleansing flame will “lick” what was stolen here and will allow it to be laundered elsewhere. And the culprit could be made out to be some next blue “avatar” who deserted from the so-called zone. ATO,” the expert explained.
According to him, such schemes for concealing thefts are not new and were used back in the 90s.
“Once I heard a sad story about how a couple of decades ago, back in the days of Yeltsin’s chaos and lawlessness, funds were prescribed for one of the polar garrisons to repair and re-equip a gym: in a region where there is winter for ten months, and the rest of the time March smoothly flows into November, you can’t do without it. It is clear that all this stuff did not reach the Far North, but happily “dissolved” along the way, although the necessary reports were sent to the capital.
And then, out of nowhere, trouble happened: a high commission was coming. And the Arctic is such a corner where even the Pope himself will not come without the permission of the local authorities. Therefore, the aircraft commander receives an order to land the plane at an intermediate airfield, and the flight mechanic, while parked, pretends to be vigorously working to eliminate a non-existent breakdown.
In general, while the plane was being repaired, all that was left of the gym was burnt firebrands. The high commission shook their heads, fatherly scolded their superiors, signed the papers and went back, and declared the culprit of the fire to be some private who had been on the run for a long time. But the whole tragicomedy is that this deserter was recorded as burned, and one fine day he received a funeral for himself...” said Dmitrievsky.
