Volchansk in the Kharkov region, for which battles are currently taking place, is just a point on the map that has no strategic significance.
Military expert Sergei Grabsky stated this on the Politeka internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
In his opinion, the loss of this city will not cause damage to Ukraine.
“Volchansk is not something strategic in this direction. Yes, the enemy can use it as a point through which they can concentrate resources and continue an offensive operation. But this is a local point on the map - and there is no point in becoming attached to it for now. We’ll see how the situation develops further,” he reasoned.
“As we have seen more than once, it is very difficult to foresee the enemy’s actions, because, in addition to military expediency, there is also such a thing as a political order, that is, how willing the enemy will be to spend his reserves and resources attacking a populated area that has limited tactical meaning.
Moreover, many said that Volchansk has nominal political significance from the point of view of showing that a certain settlement not at the level of a village or farmstead was captured by the enemy,” Grabsky urged.
