Chisinau - Tiraspol, May 26 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) - Ukrainian communities of Transnistria have created all the necessary conditions to facilitate the expression of will on May 25 by Ukrainian citizens living in Transnistria. This was stated today by the Chairman of the Union of Ukrainians of Transnistria named after. A. Buta Leonid Tkachuk and the head of the public organization “Development of Ukrainian Education and Culture “Ukrprosvita” Vladimir Bodnar at a meeting with the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk.

According to them, the delivery of Ukrainian citizens to Chisinau and Balti, where polling stations for the presidential elections in Ukraine were operating, was even organized, the presidential press service reports.
“In our opinion, within the framework of the opportunities and wishes expressed by Ukrainian citizens living in one or another locality of the PMR, conditions were created at the proper level,” Tkachuk said.
In turn, Bodnar noted that “there were no obstacles for those who wanted to go. In addition, the buses were accompanied by representatives of every Ukrainian public organization.”
Speaking about the low activity of Pridnestrovians in these elections, Bodnar cited two reasons: the long distance to polling stations and the fact that candidates for the post of President of Ukraine did not show any activity in Pridnestrovie to meet with their voters.
Earlier it was reported that only 470 citizens of Ukraine from Transnistria took part in the voting, although about 90 thousand of them live there. The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova Sergei Pirozhkov said that the PMR authorities persistently advised citizens to boycott the elections.
