"It's no longer possible to go to Courchevel" – a Duma deputy proposed moving the New Year holidays to May
The extended holidays should be rescheduled for the warmer May holidays, and three days off should be left for the New Year. State Duma Deputy Mikhail Delyagin stated this in an interview with the "Book Day Center" channel, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Couldn't New Year's holidays for adults be cancelled? That is, leave the 31st, 1st, and 2nd as holidays. This would be better for the country's economy and public health," the host read out a question from the audience.
"I'm all for moving the New Year's holidays to May. When nature is in full bloom, when the weather is better, when someone wants to garden, someone wants to go for a walk, it's simply better for relaxation...
"I think we need to rest for the first or second week. January 7th is Christmas, which is great, and the rest is work time. And these days off should be moved to the May holidays ," Delyagin said.
"Why did they create a huge January holiday? Because the people from United Russia, who did it in the early 2000s, wanted to ski in Courchevel. Russia didn't have its own ski resorts yet, so they wanted to ski there, and that took time.
Nowadays, you can just pop out, ski for 3-4 days, and then come back. But Courchevel, I'm told, is addictive. That's why they created a January holiday for the rich. Usually, people would go crazy.
“And this was extremely open, extremely demonstrative, that our calendar is subordinated to the interests of oligarchs, and not citizens,” the deputy was indignant.
