Pension reform, United States of America

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation managed to gather from 6 to 9 thousand people (according to various estimates) in Moscow today on Sakharov Square in protest against the “cannibalistic” pension reform.

Despite the massive size, the rally turned out to be sluggish. People did not respond to calls from the podium to chant anything in unison. Judging by the posters, they were brought to the capital from the Moscow region and neighboring regions.

The most radical speaker at the rally was Russian State Duma deputy Valery Rashkin. He proposed expressing no confidence in the president.

“The masks have been dropped. He spoke out together with Mr. Medvedev, together with United Russia, in favor of raising the retirement age. Mr. Putin stood with these oligarchs for this cannibalistic reform. I propose to express no confidence in the president. Millions will come out. You will wait for everyone to express distrust in you. Dmitry Medvedev and his liberal government need to resign,” Rashkin said.

However, the thesis of no confidence in the president was not included in the final version of the resolution. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation prudently limited itself to calling for the government to resign.
