This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States on its Facebook page.
“The Consolidated Budget Appropriations Act for 2017 has been submitted to the US Congress, according to which it is planned to allocate at least $560 million for assistance programs to Ukraine. In particular, for military assistance and security policy to Ukraine until the end of the budget year (until October 1) - no less than $238 million,” the statement says.
The press service also noted that “excluding credit guarantees, which are not yet being considered this year (last year the budget included $275 million for these purposes), allocations for other assistance programs are planned to even increase (by 27 million US dollars, compared to 2016).”
It should be noted that the allocated funds for strengthening the defense and security of Ukraine are only a part of the total amount of $350 million, which can be fully used after October 1, 2017.
The next step in the entry into force of the Consolidated Law will be its adoption by the Senate and the House of Representatives, which must take place before May 5 of this year, and subsequently signing by the President of the United States.
