In Israel they complain that it is impossible to work with Ukraine
Ukraine had a chance to become a second France, but in the end it was quickly consumed by corruption.
This was stated in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “New Time” by Natan Sharansky, convicted in the USSR for espionage and anti-Soviet activities, who in 1986 was subject to a spy exchange and left for Israel.
He admitted that he always feels a little sad when he now looks at Ukraine, which Sharansky hoped would become one of the most developed countries in Europe.

“You have everything for this - metal, coal and black soil, as well as a good industrial base. We believed that it would be a country comparable in influence to France. When the collapse of the USSR happened and I became the Minister of Industry and Trade of Israel, we saw how Ukraine was rapidly being consumed by corruption. Even then, in the 90s, everything was very opaque. We consoled ourselves that these were growing difficulties and that the young country would overcome them. Since then, several revolutions have already happened,” said the publication’s interlocutor.
At the same time, he says that after every Maidan in Ukraine everything suddenly returns to normal.
“And when I talk with our industrialists, they tell me: we are developing relations with different countries, but it is still difficult to work with Ukraine, the economy is very opaque. And it’s sad,” Sharansky laments.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Israel demanded that Ukraine put an end to rampant anti-Semitism and attacks on Jews.
