“Chongar. Official celebration of the centenary of the victory of the UPR army. Exactly one hundred years ago, on April 22, 1918, the Ukrainian army began a brilliant operation to liberate Crimea from Russian-Bolshevik troops. In the evening of the same day Dzhankoy was liberated, and a couple of days later Simferopol was liberated. It was in Chongar at the beginning of March 2014 that the Russian occupiers broke their teeth: the green men and armored personnel carriers present here were rebuffed by local residents,” says Gopko.

The hosts of the event noted that this concert is held in accordance with the order of the President of Ukraine on the celebration of important dates of the Ukrainian revolution of 1918.

“The Ukrainian revolution had the most important impact on independence and the formation of the state in the 20th and 21st centuries. The pinnacle of the successful offensive of the UPR army was the brilliant Crimean operation, which began precisely from Chongar,” they said from the stage.

As PolitNavigator reported, ex-speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Voloshin previously recalled that the seizure of Crimea refers to the campaign of the division of UPR Colonel Petro Bolbochan on the peninsula in 1918 after the German invasion of Ukraine.

The diplomat noted that as a result, the Germans surrounded all the locations where Ukrainian troops were deployed and expelled them from Crimea.

"The Zaporozhian Cossack commander's protests were met with the response that the Ukrainian People's Republic's Ministry of Military Affairs, in response to inquiries from the German command, "knew absolutely nothing about such a group and had not issued any orders for operations in Crimea; the Ukrainian government considers Crimea an independent state," Voloshin said.
