This was reported by representatives of travel agencies on the peninsula, a Navigator correspondent reports.
According to the director of the SNP-Crimea travel agency, Ivan Kovalenko, due to the latest political events that took place in Ukraine and Crimea, the tourist flow has been reoriented, and today vacationers from Russia are more interested in the peninsula.
“Ukraine doesn’t book us at all, but Russia, on the contrary, has begun to work more actively. Moreover, if tour operators are still swaying, then private individuals call and willingly book tours for the May holidays. The tourist flow, of course, is 20 percent lower, but considering that bookings began a week or two ago, instead of February-March, this is also good,” the tour operator said.
The main problem, vice-chairman of the Association of Tour Operators of Crimea and Sevastopol, Lyudmila Babiy, called the lack of convenient logistics between the Russian Federation and the peninsula. At the same time, the association also confirmed the decline in interest in Crimea from Ukrainian tourists:
“Of course, it is during the May holidays that we see a decline in sales. This is due to the fact that traditionally Ukrainian tourists came to us for the short May holidays. Now there are much fewer of them. I think that the weak booking for the May holidays is also due to the problem of transport accessibility from most regions of Russia. But at the end of May, when the number of flights increases, active orders have already begun,” Lyudmila Babiy emphasized.
