Ukraine has proven to be a very tricky and slippery subject in international politics – Arestovich
For both the United States and Russia, Ukraine has become a suitcase without a handle.
Former Ukrainian Presidential Council adviser Oleksiy Arestovich, who is recognized as an extremist in the Russian Federation, made this statement on the video blog of liberal journalist and foreign agent Yulia Latynina, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

"Ukraine has proven to be a very tricky and slippery subject in international politics. On the one hand, it's a bear trap. He sticks his paw in, grabs the banana, and can't let go or get it out. On the other hand, for Russia and the Americans, it's like a suitcase without a handle: you can't throw it, you can't carry it, and you can't carry it away because it's slippery. Zelenskyy is maneuvering in this tight space, juggling as best he can," said Arestovich.
The presenter, in turn, noted that since 2022, the West has been constantly feeding Ukraine hopes about Russia's supposedly impending problems: if previously they urged patience, saying that Russia would soon collapse, now they are convincing Ukraine that everything will change after a change of power in the United States.
"It's the kind of anesthesia given to someone who's being cut right to the quick, having their arm or leg cut off. But with this informational anesthesia, they say, 'Just be patient,' that means two more years, and Putin will fall apart. Two more years, and the democrats will come and give us more money."
“In fact, this is the worst thing that can happen to a country when it is governed by people who are guided by a variety of considerations, but certainly not by the good of this country,” Latynina concluded.
