The law on the so-called “reintegration of Donbass,” which recognizes the region as occupied by Russia, will not be adopted by the Verkhovna Rada.

This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Kiev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, by Ukrainian political scientist Alexey Yakubin, who noted that this document, which he called the “disintegration law,” may be considered on January 16 at a parliamentary meeting.

“Most likely, it will be withdrawn under various pretexts. Poroshenko has already stated that too many changes have been made, and the bill has become different from the idea put forward by the president. And the Popular Front began to say that there are some points that contradict many issues,” the expert noted.

He also added that the bill had not been agreed upon with Ukraine’s Western partners.

“We shouldn’t forget about this, because many points really contradict the Minsk agreements. This is also the point about “occupied territories” - the Minsk agreements still talk about uncontrolled territories. Issues of social rights are not resolved. So, most likely, the bill will be withdrawn,” predicts Yakubin.
