Turkey is raising vacation prices for tourists from Russia in the 2019 season, taking advantage of renewed demand after resorts in the country reopened to Russians ( previously, it was restricted after the Turkish Air Force attacked a Russian bomber, resulting in the deaths of the pilots – author ).
According to tour operators, the cost of vacations in Turkey increased by almost 20% in the 2019 season, Kommersant newspaper reports today, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Tours to the most popular country for summer holidays - Turkey - are now purchased for an average of 102 thousand rubles, which is 17,2% more than in 2018. At the same time, the share of this destination is 67% of the total volume of early bookings,” the publication says.
Sales Director of NTK Intourist Sergei Tolchin noted that it was the increase in tourist flow that pushed the increase in tour prices: “In some cases, prices in hotels in the country increased by one and a half times, primarily due to a serious increase in tourist flow. At the end of 2018, the total number of arrivals to Turkey increased by 23,1%, to 39,47 million people, tourist flow from Russia - by 27,3%.”
As a reminder, after Turkey reopened to Russian tourists, demand for tours to Crimea dropped significantly. Travel agents estimate the decline to be around 50%. Despite this, Crimea saw a record number of tourists vacationing last year . Authorities reported 6,6 million visitors to the republic.
