It is premature to talk about a change in the US position on Crimea and the Donbass crisis in connection with the election of Donald Trump as President.

Denis Denisov, a Russian political scientist from the Institute of CIS Countries, stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“After the new administration is formed, the president takes office, it will be possible to assume how the new US president will build his foreign policy regarding Ukraine and Crimea in the future,” he said.
At the same time, the political scientist expressed his personal point of view - “this position will be completely far from the enthusiastic exclamations of many experts in the Russian Federation, who believe that Trump will be completely loyal to the Russian Federation and will almost be a lobbyist for Russia in the West.”
The expert noted that the American political system is quite complex and one person decides little in it.
“There are forces prevailing there that are extremely negatively disposed towards Russia. I would not hope for any significant positive changes in bilateral relations,” concluded Denisov.
