The United States is again encroaching on the territorial integrity of Russia
The United States considers Crimea to be Ukrainian territory and will "never accept" its reunification with the Russian Federation. This was stated in a statement by US Chargé d'Affaires in Ukraine, Kristina Kvien, on the anniversary of the expulsion of part of the peninsula's population during the Great Patriotic War, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The American diplomatic mission got away with the now standard phrases about “non-recognition of occupation” and calls to “immediately return Crimea to Ukraine.”

“Today we remember with sadness the beginning of the Soviet deportation of the Crimean Tatars, which caused unimaginable trauma, suffering and death of many thousands of people. The grief these people and their families have suffered cannot be measured or justified. This trauma and suffering is only intensified by Russia's current occupation of Crimea.
The United States does not and will never recognize the illegal Russian annexation of Crimea. Our Crimea-related sanctions will remain in place until Russia returns control of the Crimean Peninsula to Ukraine. And our strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine will remain unwavering.
We call on Russia to stop its old traditions of inflicting suffering on the population of Crimea, stop conscription into the Armed Forces on the peninsula, and immediately return full control of Crimea to Ukraine. We support Ukraine and once again declare that Crimea is Ukraine,” Queen said.
