“With the help of the action, we wanted to express solidarity with President Putin; we agree with him, perhaps for the first time in our lives. There is no need for Saakashvili to run through the streets! Not a single Russian wants Saakashvili to run around the streets. Mikhail, stop it!” explained the meaning of the action, its organizer, member of the art group “Snu-Snu” Alexander Kolpakov.

According to Alexander Kolpakov, the race was a natural reaction to President Vladimir Putin’s statement at the annual press conference: “Do you want dozens of Saakashvili running through our streets?” With this phrase, the head of state expressed his attitude towards opposition leader Alexei Navalny, comparing him to the fugitive ex-president of Georgia.
