In Mariupol, a local court sentenced to three years and six months of imprisonment in a closed correctional colony a contract soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who had been repeatedly convicted of theft, who deserted from his unit six months after enlisting on a contract.

A resident of the Kharkov region, who was repeatedly convicted of committing thefts and robberies, signed a contract for military service in the Marine Corps unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, located in Mariupol, as a mortar operator. After serving for six months, the criminal voluntarily left the military unit and went to help his mother with housework for two months, after which, as if nothing had happened, he returned to his place of service. The command of the unit did not appreciate the freedom-loving character of the soldier and sent him to a local pre-trial detention center, deciding to add another conviction to his record - this time for desertion.
It is surprising that the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, concluding contracts with repeat offenders, hopes that they will serve conscientiously and defend the Motherland. In fact, even if the cases of their desertion outside the combat zone are not widespread, then with the very first shots fired over their heads, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will see only their tattooed backs and sparkling heels.
