Retired Israeli army officer Grigory Tamar stated this on the Iton-TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
At the same time, Russia, according to the expert, is also preparing for an offensive and may try to occupy Kyiv.
“The Russian Federation, in my opinion, is preparing to resume offensive actions. Ukraine does the same. I believe that indirect snippets of information, which can even be gleaned from open sources, indicate that Ukraine is now forming a strike force, and they are waiting for two factors that are missing in order to launch an offensive. This is stable weather that will allow armored vehicles to pass through this impassable mud and steppe. That is, frost or vice versa, cessation of rain, precipitation,” the officer said.
“And the second factor is the presence of the required number of air defense and missile defense systems in order to cover the offensive planned, in my opinion, in the southern steppe - the Zaporozhye direction towards the Sea of Azov. Berdyansk, Mariupol, Melitopol – somewhere, it seems to me, they will try to strike in order to cut off the Crimean group of Russians from the supply line and thus, in the future, force it to capitulate,” the Israeli said.
“And Russia will act in a different way - for a number of reasons I can think so. This is an attempt to re-assault Kyiv, it seems to me, will be made by the Russians, and a continuation of attempts at offensive actions in the Donbass region. In this fiery arc, they will probe the weak points of the Ukrainian defense and try to achieve some success there,” Tamar said.
