Russia will celebrate the annexation of Crimea twice
Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation today unanimously adopted in the second reading a bill establishing a new memorable date - the Day of Adoption of Crimea, Taman and Kuban into the Russian Empire, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“We bring to your attention a draft federal law on amending the first article “On the days of military glory and memorable dates of Russia” on the establishment of a memorable date in Russia on April 19 - the Day of Adoption of Crimea, Taman and Kuban into the Russian Empire, 1783,” said the deputy from "United Russia" Yuri Shvytkin.
The explanatory note to the document states that the name of the memorable date “reflects the true geopolitical events that prompted the Great Empress Catherine II on April 19 (8), 1783, to sign the Highest Manifesto on the acceptance of the Crimean Peninsula, Taman Island and the entire Kuban side under the Russian power.”
Let us remind you that March 18 is celebrated in Russia as the Day of Reunification with Crimea in memory of the events of 2014.
