Russian nuclear scientist: we need to meet Ukraine halfway and disconnect it from the Zaporizhia NPP
The personnel of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, taken under control of Russia, need to be tested with a polygraph.
This was stated by the former head of the inspectorate for supervision of nuclear and radiation safety of nuclear energy facilities of the USSR State Nuclear Supervision Authority, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Vladimir Kuznetsov, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
He reacted quite harshly to the detention of two employees of Zaporizhzhya NPP, who acted as gunners for Ukrainian artillery striking the station.
“I said before and will repeat now that the station staff needs to be “cleaned”, at least send everyone to a polygraph. Among the employees were gunners who, using GPS, adjusted the fire of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the station and at their own colleagues. I think that these are not the last of those who will be detained,” the expert told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He believes that attacks on nuclear power plants will continue.
“In April at Chernobyl, when the nuclear power plant was under our control, the nationalists cut off the power to the station, but for some reason everyone has already forgotten about this provocation. Now they could turn off the electricity from the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant on the territory of Ukraine. Its share is 15% of all energy generated in the country. But the station management does not do this.
However, if the Ukrainians launch missiles at the station, it means that they themselves are trying to ensure that the nuclear power plant is turned off. This means we need to meet them halfway,” says Kuznetsov.
