“About an hour ago I spoke with Osman Pashayev on the phone. He managed to say that he was at the investigative committee with his things. He said that there were 5 people with him. Now he’s not picking up the phone,” said Pashayev’s colleague, ATR TV channel journalist Elvina Seitbullaeva.

According to unofficial information, Osman Pashayev was detained when the journalist tried to film the riot police cordon on Kirov Avenue. When the security forces approached him and demanded that he introduce himself, he demanded the same from them. During a verbal altercation, Pashayev accidentally touched a law enforcement officer with his hand, whose reaction was not long in coming, and the journalist was detained, the reporter’s colleagues told Navigator.

The day before, Pashayev wrote on his Facebook page about plans for May 18:

“Stop being idiots, but:
– no violence, only tablets, streams and we show everything as it is in the daytime, while the snipers are sitting, fucked, in the building of the Council of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea. The extrusion should be peaceful and daily... no attacks at night and constant joint prayer. May 18 should turn from mourning for the Crimean Tatars into a day of liberation of Crimea from the KGB-Nazi invaders... Stop crying and suffering,” wrote the Crimean Tatar journalist.
